Chicago – Chief Harteau is one of the voices as the National Law Enforcement Partnership to Prevent Gun Violence stresses the dangerous increase in gun violence, saying immediate action is needed to keep guns out of the wrong hands. She was joined by the host of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference, Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy.
The Chief shared Minneapolis’ perspective as the nation deals with an unusual increase in gun violence and homicides.
“The only common denominators we’re finding in every city that has been plagued with this increase is that repeat offenders are illegally getting their hands on firearms. That is why these conversations are vital to addressing this problem with a sense of urgency,” Chief Harteau said.
