One Dead After Single Vehicle Crash on University

April 14, 2016 (MINNEAPOLIS) At 1:21 am, officers from the Minneapolis Police
Department’s Second Precinct responded to a report of a one car crash in the area of
the 3000 block of University Avenue SE.

Officers arrived and found one person lying on the sidewalk in very critical condition.
Officers located a vehicle approximately a block away with no one in it. The driver’s
door had been sheared off in the crash.

Preliminary investigation yields that the vehicle was being operated at a high rate of
speed, travelling the wrong direction in a one-way of University Avenue SE. The
vehicle hit a curb and a light pole at SE 30th Avenue where the driver was ejected.
The car continued unoccupied along the sidewalk , shearing a tree off and striking
a gas meter where it came to rest along a building.

The adult male party found at the scene is believed to be the driver. He was
transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by ambulance where he later died.

The Minneapolis Police Department and Minnesota State Patrol are investigating this
crash. The Medical Examiner will release the identity of the deceased individual along
with the nature and cause of death.
