On Sunday, June 6, 2016 an alert officer from the MPD’s 5th Precinct observed a male walking down the road with a power washer and carrying various other power tools. Realizing that this is not a common occurrence but not necessarily criminal act, the officer stopped and talked to the man.
The man’s demeanor and answers to routine questions did not make sense to the officer. Another officer investigated this further as the first officer spoke with the man. The second officer located a fresh garage burglary and made contact the the homeowner. The homeowner confirmed that a power washer and numerous other power tools were removed from his garage without his consent. He also confirmed that the items being carried by the man walking down the street were his.
A search of the suspect incident to arrest yielded the victim’s garage door opener. The tools were documented, photographed, and returned to the rightful owner. The suspect was booked into the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center for Probable Cause Burglary.
