One Dead After Morning Shooting

June 30, 2016 (MINNEAPOLIS) At 8:18 this morning, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to the area of E 24th Street and Oakland Avenue South on a report of a possible shooting.

Officers located an adult male in the street that had an apparent gunshot wound. Medical personnel arrived on the scene and declared the victim to be deceased.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the victim as well as the nature and cause of death.

Officers and investigators spoke with several people and canvassed the residences in the area to see what people may have heard or seen. Investigators are following up on leads generated from those conversations.

Members of the MPD Community Support Team were at the scene to help people with their grief and facilitate dialogue. Officers will be providing extra community engagement in this area. People are strongly encouraged to interact with these officers and share any information they may have.
