One Dead and 2 Injured After Morning Shooting

July 3, 2016 (MINNEAPOLIS) Just before 4:00 this morning, an officer with the Minneapolis Police Department heard multiple gunshots in the area of Emerson and West Broadway. While responding to the area, a ShotSpotter notification was made of shots fired on the 1100 block of West Broadway.

Officers arrived and found an adult male deceased outside in a parking lot. Officers on scene were also notified that two other people suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds showed up at area hospitals.

Officers and investigators arrived on the scene and, with the assistance of the MPD Community Support Team, talked to a number of people who were on the scene. Additional MPD personnel canvassed the area and spoke with residents about what they may have seen or heard.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased individual along with the nature and cause of death.

Today and throughout the weekend, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department will be spending time in this area speaking with residents and businesses. People are strongly encouraged to speak freely with these officers.
