Female Dies at Hospital after Weekend Shooting

April 5, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) The adult female victim that had been previously listed in critical condition at North Memorial Hospital died this morning. The name of the victim, along with the cause and nature of her death will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

The Minneapolis Police Department has assigned 4 detectives to this case. Officers Arrest 2 People after Responding to Shooting and Stabbing Incident

April 2, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) Around 1:26 a.m. officers from the 4th Precinct heard the sound of gunshots in the area of the 2600 block of Golden Valley Road. As they were responding to the area, the call was updated to a shooting that occurred at 2629 Golden Valley Road.

Upon arrival, officers located one adult female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to her head and one adult male suffering from a stab wound to his abdomen.  Officers and Paramedics from North Memorial Medical Center (NMMC) immediately provided medical care to the victims, who were then transported to NMMC by ambulance; the female victim is currently in critical condition and the male victim is being treated for a non-life threatening injury.

While officers were at the hospital, a third adult male victim related to this incident arrived with a non-life threating gunshot wound to his ankle.

One suspect was arrested at the scene and a handgun was recovered. The adult male (age unknown at this time) was booked into Hennepin County Jail on Probable Cause Weapons charges.

As additional officers were arriving at the scene, they located a motorcycle leaving the area and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The motorcyclist fled but eventually pulled over for officers on the 4000 block of Lakeland Avenue North in Robbinsdale. The suspect was arrested and a handgun was recovered. The 21-year-old male was booked into Hennepin County Jail on Probable Cause Weapons and Fleeing Police charges.

Officers from the Fourth Precinct will be out in the neighborhood tomorrow talking with the community about the shooting. Anyone with questions or information is encouraged to speak with the officers.

Investigators from the Minneapolis Police Department and the department’s crime lab responded to the scene. The case number for arrests stemming from the shooting and stabbing is 17-116310. The case number for the fleeing police and weapons charges is 17-116333.
