Early Evening Shooting Leaves One Dead

February 27, 2018 (MINNEAPOLIS) On Tuesday, February 27th at approximately 6:10 pm officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to the 700 block of 18th Street East on a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival officer located an adult male victim injured outside. Officers administered first aid and the victim was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates that two individuals were exchanging words when shots were fired. The suspect fled the area on foot.
Investigators from the Minneapolis Police Department were in the area canvassing the area and following up on leads generated by first responding officers. The Minneapolis Police Department Crime Lab has processed the scene.

The identity of the victim, along with the nature and cause of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner in the days to come.
