September 3, 2015 (MINNEAPOLIS) On Sunday, August 30th, at approximately 1:40 am, an adult female was walking on the 2500 block of Aldrich Avenue South when she became the victim of a violent assault.

At that location, a white male individual grabbed her around the neck with his hands. He choked and strangled her to the point where she was no longer conscious. The victim received numerous injuries during this assault. When she regained consciousness, her personal belongings were scattered around. The victim screamed for help and a number of Good Samaritans came to render aid and called 911. Officers arrived a short time later and the suspect was gone from the area. The woman was transported to the hospital for the treatment of her injuries.

One of her stolen credit cards was used the following morning by two white males. Surveillance video has produced images of each individual.

The Inspector commanding the 5th Precinct is increasing directed patrol in this area as well as asking officers for more community engagement in the affected neighborhood. We are allocating patrol resources in an effort to prevent future acts of violent crime. The MPD will also be working with our law enforcement partners who also work near the scene of this crime. Residents will see more police in this area and are encouraged to share information and work with officers on this public safety issue.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send an anonymous tip to CRIMES (274637) and begin message with: TIP674. The case number is 15-327219.
