On August 5, 2015 just before noon, a 90 year old woman was walking home from the grocery store in the area of the 3100 block of 51st Street East when she was confronted by two women who implied they had a gun and robbed her.
Investigators were able to develop 2 suspects and even obtained photos of them around the time of the robbery.
Unable to identify the two individuals, we turned to our media partners and the public for help. Within minutes of this story airing, the CrimeStoppers Tipline was filled with calls from people who could identify the two suspects. Within the first few hours, we had numerous tips, all identifying the two suspects by name.
Since Friday afternoon, we have arrested the two individuals who are the suspects in this robbery.
This is a fantastic example of the truly positive outcome possible when the public is willing to provide information. This case was solved by the members of the public who cared more about a 90 year old victim than anything else.
CrimeStoppers played a vital role in solving this crime as well. We want to remind the public that they can always call CrimeStoppers when they have information they may want to share with the police department while remaining anonymous.
