New Year’s Day Shooting Claims the Life of One

January 4, 2016 (MINNEAPOLIS) At 12:37 am New Year’s Morning, Minneapolis Police responded to the 500 block of 8th Avenue SE on a report of shots fired with an adult male who was severely injured.

Officers arrived and immediately provided aid to the victim. Additional officers began to canvass the area and speak with people who may have been witnesses or have information. Homicide investigators have been working the case ever since.

The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by ambulance where he later died of his injuries.

The Medical Examiner will release the identity of the deceased, along with the nature and cause of death.

The Inspector commanding the 2nd Precinct is calling a community meeting to include the Marcy Holmes Neighborhood Association to discuss this crime and any concerns they may have. Minneapolis Police Department staff, chaplains, and community members will be door knocking the surrounding blocks to obtain information, share safety tips, and offer support.
