Monday evening shortly after 8:00 pm, a Minneapolis Squad car was involved in a crash on Fremont Avenue North and 36th Avenue North.
Preliminary information is that the squad was in route to an emergency medical call and was operating in emergency mode. The squad was travelling northbound on Fremont Avenue North approaching 36th Avenue North. A second vehicle entered into the intersection heading eastbound on 36th Avenue North. The two vehicles collided redirecting the squad into an apartment building on the northeast corner of that intersection. The intersection is controlled by stop signs for traffic heading east and west.
The two officers suffered minor injuries. Four of the seven persons in the second vehicle also suffered minor injuries. Failing to yield and alcohol use on the part of the second vehicle’s operator may be a contributing factor to the crash.
All injured parties were transported to North Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
