One Dead After Shots Fired Call

March 26, 2016 (MINNEAPOLIS) Just before noon today, Minneapolis Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 39th and Colfax Avenue North. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male deceased with a gunshot wound in the alley between Colfax and Dupont Avenue North.

Investigation at the scene yielded the information that the victim was walking eastbound on 39th Avenue in the area of Colfax Avenue North when a white passenger car pulled up and began shooting at him. The victim ran east to the alley where he collapsed and died. The suspect vehicle left northbound on Colfax Avenue at a high rate of speed.

Investigators and officers canvassed the area and have spoken with a number of people who live in the area and may have seen any part of this crime. Other officers will be re-canvassing in the near future. Residents area strongly encouraged to speak with these officers and share any knowledge or insight that they may have.

The Medical Examiner will release the identity of the deceased, along with the nature and cause of death.
