Man Pronounced Dead After Shooting

May 7, 2016 (MINNEAPOLIS) On May 7, 2016 at 2:28 am, there was a Shot Spotter
activation in the area of 27th Avenue North and Knox Avenue North. Officers arrived
in the area and located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound lying on 27th
Avenue North between Knox and James Avenue North. He was in critical condition.

Paramedics transported the victim to North Memorial Medical Center where he was
pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Officers and detectives canvassed the area and spoke with a number of people.
Information was obtained and investigators will work through the night on this case.

The identity of the victim, as well as the nature and cause of death will be released by
the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

The Inspector commanding the 4th Precinct is increasing directed patrol in this area as
well as asking officers for more community engagement in the affected neighborhood.
Residents will see more police in this area and are encouraged to share information and
work with officers on this public safety issue.
