Reward Increased to $10,000 on Innocent Bystander Murder

August 22, 2016 (MINNEAPOLIS) The Minneapolis Police Department and CrimeStoppers of Minnesota have teamed up to announce a reward in this case. Anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this murder is eligible for a cash reward of up to $10,000.

Shortly after 6:00 pm on May 26th, 2016, Minneapolis Police Officers responded to a reported shooting in the area of 21st Avenue North and Penn Avenue North.  Upon arrival, officers located an adult female sitting in a vehicle who had suffered a gunshot wound.  The victim, Birdell Beeks, was transported to North Memorial Medical Center by ambulance where she died a short time later.

Officers have conducted focused directed patrol and performed additional community engagement in this area since then. Despite people being strongly encouraged to speak with officers, this case remains unsolved.
