SafeZone Patrols Conclude in Downtown Minneapolis

September 13, 2016 (MINNEAPOLIS) The Minneapolis Police Department and Chief Janeé Harteau would like to thank our law enforcement partners and the MPD’s First Precinct Officers for their tremendous efforts through the 11th SafeZone Initiative, which wrapped up on Labor Day. Hennepin County Sheriff Deputies and Metro Transit Police Officers walked alongside MPD Officers throughout the summer.

“Visibility equals livability. It is extremely difficult for us to track the crimes that are not committed based on the presence of officers and deputies, but make no mistake, these patrols deterred crimes. They also highlight the tremendous support and partnerships that we have throughout the city,” Chief Harteau said.

Now that the initiative is complete, strategic analysts within the Minneapolis Police Department will be looking at the data to determine what worked well and what strategies we can use next summer.
