Watch: First Precinct Officers Put Their Lives on the Line to Rescue Man from Raging Water

Chief Harteau Statement: “I hope this video helps everyone realize how powerful Mother Nature can be. Do not take chances. We are thankful that no one was seriously hurt in this incident. I also hope it reminds people just how valuable our first responders are. Every day, Minneapolis Police Officers are out in the community answering calls for help and putting themselves in harm’s way to save the lives of others. I continue to be proud of the men and women of the MPD.”

First responders were dispatched to a water emergency call on Wednesday night, two Minneapolis Police Officers and two Hennepin County EMS Paramedics were the first on scene. It was pouring rain and a man in desperate need of help was clinging to a rope. The officers and paramedics had to act heroically and swiftly, as the water was rapidly racing into the Mississippi River, threatening to carry the man away. Hear their story and watch the footage:
