MPD Investigating a Domestic Homicide in South Minneapolis

September 30, 2016 (MINNEAPOLIS) Officers from the Third Precinct responded to 5430 34th Avenue South regarding the sound of gunshots coming from inside an apartment at 7:10 a.m. 

When officers arrived at the apartment complex, they went inside and located four people who had been shot. Officers provided medical care to the victims until paramedics from Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) arrived. Paramedics determined three people inside the apartment were deceased; one adult male, one teenage male, and one teenage female.

The names of the deceased, along with the cause and nature of their deaths will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Paramedics also transported an adult female to HCMC with significant injuries.

Investigators are at the scene speaking with anyone who may have information regarding the shooting. Minneapolis Police Department Chaplains were also at the scene to talk with officers and residents of the building.

The Minneapolis Police Department is not looking for any suspects in connection with this case, and there is no further threat to the public’s safety related to this incident.  At this point in the investigation, the MPD believes that his was likely a domestic related homicide.

Officers from the Third Precinct will be out in the neighborhood tomorrow talking with residents and distributing information about domestic violence in the area. Anyone who thinks they are in an unsafe relationship is encouraged to call 911 or the Domestic Abuse Project at 612-874-7063.
