Suspect Arrested after Fatal Stabbing

January 15, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) Officers from the Fifth Precinct responded to a domestic disturbance at 2101 3rd Avenue South at approximately 10:51 p.m. on January 14th.. The 911 caller reported an assault inside of an apartment.

When officers arrived at the address, they located an adult male victim with a stab wound to his chest. Officers provided first aid to the victim until paramedics from Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) arrived. The victim was pronounced deceased by paramedics.

Officers arrested an adult male at the scene in connection with the stabbing. The arrestee is believed to be related to the victim. The arrested man was transported to City Hall to be interviewed and will be booked into the Hennepin County Jail. There is a hold on the arrested person’s booking photo.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Officer will release the name of the deceased, as well as the cause and nature of his death.

There are no other suspects being sought in this homicide. The case remains under investigation by the Minneapolis Police Department’s Homicide Unit, the case number 17-016800. 

Officers from the Fifth Precinct will be in the neighborhood canvassing overnight and will return during the day to speak with community members about domestic violence. Officers will be handing out information from the Domestic Abuse Project.
