Catching up With Our New Community and Collaborative Advancement Commander

DSC02409We’ve been trying to catch up with Community and Collaborative Advancement Commander Charlie Adams during his first month on the job, just to get a FullSizeRender 2picture of him for our website. It hasn’t been easy; luckily we caught him as he grabbed a quick bite during a meeting at Milda’s Café on Glenwood.  In between the dozens of community meetings throughout the city, the Commander has touched base with a number of media outlets like KMOJ (he’ll be a regular guest!), Insight News, Somali TVof Minnesota, and KALY Somali American Community Radio. But the Commander is far from a one man show; he’s inspiring anFullSizeRender-6d leading the outreach of our Community Engagement Officers and the MPD’s Police Community Support Team. It should also be noted the Commander grew up in North Minneapolis, his brother is an officer changing young lives in our Police Activities League, his son is a School Resource Officer and the Head Football Coach at Minneapolis North High (State Champs 16’), and his daughter is a Community Service Officer.
