Woman Dies in Afternoon Shooting

May 12, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) Today around 3:15 p.m. officers from the Fourth Precinct responded to the 600 block of Broadway Avenue West on a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located an adult female who had been shot. The victim was transported to North Memorial Medical Center (NMMC) by paramedics, where she was pronounced deceased. The name of the victim, along with the cause and nature of her death will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Officers and Investigators learned that the shooting occurred after a disturbance in a business moved to the parking lot. At this point, investigators believe that the female victim and the suspect know each other.

Investigators from the Minneapolis Police Department’s Homicide are interviewing witnesses and asking for anyone who might have left the scene before being interviewed to come forward. The Police Community Support Team (PCST) also responded to the shooting to help connect witnesses with investigators.

Officers from the Fourth Precinct will be in the area tonight and tomorrow talking with business owners and community members about the shooting. Anyone with questions or information are encouraged to speak with the officers.
