No Injuries after MPD Officer Involved Shooting; Adult Male Arrested for Assault

May 14, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) Shortly before 1:00 p.m. today officers from the Third Precinct responded to a 911 call about a male loitering and threatening a woman outside of an apartment building on the 600 block of 18th Street East.

When an officer arrived at the address, he was confronted by a 31-year-old suspect who was armed with two knives. The officer discharged his weapon once, and the suspect was not injured.

Additional officers from the precinct arrived and the male was arrested. Officers recovered two knives the suspect was holding.  The arrested man was transported to Minneapolis City Hall to be interviewed and then will be booked at Hennepin County Jail for Probable Cause Felony Second Degree Assault. 

The name of the arrested male and the officer are not being released at this time.

The officer involved shooting is being investigated by the Minneapolis Police Department’s Homicide and Internal Affairs Units. Case Number 17-175477.
