Man Dies at Hospital after Evening Shooting

June 6, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) Officers from the Fourth Precinct responded to a shooting on the 3300 block of Newton Avenue North at approximately 5:55 p.m. today.

When officers arrived, they located a 37-year-old male on the front step of a house with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The victim was transported to North Memorial Health Hospital (NMHH) by paramedics, where he later died from his injuries.

The name of the deceased, as well as the cause and nature of his death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The homicide scene is being processed by the Minneapolis Police Department’s Crime Lab. Officers from the Precinct and Investigators from the Minneapolis Police Department’s Homicide Unit are canvassing the neighborhood tonight looking for additional witnesses and will be back in the area tomorrow answering questions about the homicide.
