Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested in South Minneapolis

June 13, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) Officers from the Third Precinct responded to the 3600 block of Minnehaha Avenue South at 8:13 a.m. on a report of robbery of a business in progress. The 9-1-1 caller stated a male suspect was holding a female employee at gun point and demanding she open the safe.

Responding officers set up a perimeter around the business and immediately gave chase after the armed suspect ran from the building. As the suspect was running away from officers, he was struck by a vehicle driven by an officer. At that point, the suspect was still armed with the handgun. The suspect fought with officers as they attempted to arrest him before a Taser was deployed, enabling the officers to take him into custody.  The suspect was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) by paramedics for the evaluation of non-life threatening injuries. He was released a short time later and booked into the Hennepin County Jail.

The scene was processed by the Minneapolis Police Department’s Crime Lab. The Minneapolis Police Department’s Robbery and Internal Affairs Units are both conducting investigations into this incident.

The arrested person has been identified as 31 year old Deleon Coltay Walker. His booking photo is not being released at this time for investigative reasons.

Case number 17-217835.
