Adult Male Arrested Following Morning Homicide

June 17, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) Around 3:17 a.m. officers from the Fourth Precinct heard the sound of gunshots in the area of Webber Parkway and Lyndale Avenue North. As they were responding to the area, the call was updated to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male lying on the ground. Officers requested paramedics from North Memorial Health Hospital (NMHH) to respond as they observed the male had been shot. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the adult male victim deceased.

Witnesses stated the adult male suspect shot the victim when he was lying on the ground. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

Officers and K-9 searched the area for the suspect and with the help of a 9-1-1 caller the adult male was arrested. The male will be taken to Minneapolis City Hall and then booked into Hennepin County Jail. At this point, Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a robbery and they are not looking for additional suspects related to this homicide.

The name of the victim, as well as the cause and nature of his death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The homicide scene is being processed by the Minneapolis Police Department’s Crime Lab. Officers from the Precinct and Investigators from the Minneapolis Police Department’s Homicide Unit are canvassing the neighborhood looking for additional witnesses.
