Robbery and Stabbing Victim Dies at Hospital

July 26, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) Investigators from the Minneapolis Police Department’s Homicide Unit were notified today the 31-year-old female who had been stabbed during a robbery on July 15, 2017 has died.

On July 15, 2017, just after midnight officers from the First Precinct responded to a report of a stabbing in Parking Ramp B, 516 Second Avenue North. When officers arrived, they found an adult female who had been stabbed. Officers provided medical care to the female and when paramedics arrived, she was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC).

Investigators assigned the case were able to identify the suspect in the stabbing as Benjamin Love, a 44-year-old man from Minneapolis. Love was arrested on July 20, 2017 by Minneapolis Police Officer’s assigned to the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT). Love was booked into Hennepin County Jail on Robbery and Felony Assault charges at the time of his arrest.

Today, Investigators signed the criminal complaint with the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office upgrading the charges against Love to 2nd Degree Murder. Love is being held in Hennepin County Jail on $1,000,000 bail.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased victim, as well as the exact cause and nature of her death.
