Woman Dies after Morning Fire

September 28, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) Officers from the 2nd Precinct responded to the 2900 block of Taylor Street Northeast on an unknown trouble call at approximately 6:44 a.m. While officers were responding more information was added to the call that a house was on fire and a female had been burned. The Minneapolis Fire Department and paramedics from Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) responded after the call was updated.

When officers arrived they located an adult female outside the residence who was severely burned. The woman was transported to HCMC by paramedics where she later died. The name of the deceased and the cause of her death will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

As additional officers were responding to the call an adult male was located in the 900 block of 29th Avenue Northeast suffering from burns to his hands. The male was transported to HCMC by paramedics and is expected to survive.

At this point in the investigation, it is believed the man who was located in the 900 block of 29th Avenue Northeast is the suspect in the fire, and he and the victim had a prior relationship.

The MPD is not actively looking for any other suspects in this case. The investigation is being handled by the department’s Homicide and Arson Units.
