Body Discovered in South Minneapolis

November 19, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) At approximately 10:16 a.m. officers from the Third Precinct responded after a 9-1-1 caller reported he had discovered a body in a wooded area just north of Highway 62 near Cedar Avenue South. Officers immediately secured the area before calling in the Minneapolis Police Department’s Crime Lab. The MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s Crime Scene Team was also called in to assist Minneapolis Police Department Homicide Investigators.

At this time, the MPD can confirm that a body has been discovered, but is not yet in a position to even identify the gender of the victim. Positive identification will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. This area will remain an active crime scene for several more hours.

A resident in the area was walking his dog this morning when the dog discovered the partially covered body, approximately 40 yards into a wooded area just north of a walking/bike path. The MPD would like to thank the resident for immediately calling 9-1-1.
