Medical Examiner Determines Homicidal Violence Led to Man’s Death in September

November 27, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) Today, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Michael Mitchell Williams’ (age 53) cause of death as a homicide.

Williams’s death stems from an assault call on September 13, 2017 at approximately 7:11 p.m. Officers from the First Precinct responded to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) after the victim had been transported to the hospital by paramedics. They learned the victim had possibly been assaulted at the intersection of Grant Street East and Nicollet Avenue South. Williams died on September 13th, 2017 at HCMC.

The Department’s Homicide Unit has been talking with witnesses and reviewing surveillance video as detectives continue to investigate Williams’ death. The area where the assault occurred is a busy downtown intersection leading investigators to strongly believe there are more witnesses out there who have not come forward.
