The joint Hennepin County and Minneapolis Police Department Law Enforcement Memorial Service was held Thursday at the Hennepin County Government Center Thursday afternoon. The ceremony paid tribute to fallen law enforcement officers in honor of National Police Week.
The guest speaker was Wayzata Mayor Ken Wilcox in remembrance of fallen Officer William Mathews who was tragically killed by an inattentive driver on September 8, 2017. There was also a roll call of the fallen.
Throughout the week thousands of peace officers attended memorial ceremonies throughout our country to recognize the men and women who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
