Minneapolis Police Shoot Male Brandishing Weapon

November 9, 2018 (MINNEAPOLIS) Shortly after 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 9th Minneapolis Police Officers responded to a report of a suicidal male on the 3700 block of Morgan Avenue North.

Upon arrival at the residence, the subject came out of the residence with a weapon.  Shots were fire by police personnel striking the subject, an adult male.  The subject was transported to North Memorial Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) responded to the scene and began their investigation.  This is an independent investigation handled by the BCA.  The Minneapolis Police Department and its personnel will cooperate fully with the investigation.  The officer’s body worn cameras were on and activated during this incident. 

The identity of the deceased, along with the nature and cause of death with be provided by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The officers involved in this incident are on administrative leave which is standard procedure.
