Physical Altercation Leads to Death of Adult Male

January 3, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) On Thursday evening at 10:40 pm, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to the area of East 35th Street and 1st Avenue South on a report of a physical fight.

Officers arrived and located a gravely injured adult male outside. Officers rendered aid until paramedics took over providing care.  The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where he died a short time later.

Preliminary information yields that the two involved individuals are acquaintances and they had a disagreement. That disagreement turned physical.  The suspect fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival.

Homicide detectives and officers from 5th Precinct canvassed the area and have located a number of cooperative witnesses. The Minneapolis Police Department Crime Lab responded to the scene and collected evidence for analysis.

The identification of the victim, along with the nature and cause of death, will be released by the Medical Examiner’s Office in the coming days.
