Officers engage with Red Wing Youth Correctional Facility residents

On Wednesday, January 16th MPD Officers spent the day at the Red Wing Youth Correctional Facility with the residents.

Officers know the recidivism rate of juvenile offenders is around 70% within 3 years of release. This is not good for them, their families or our communities.

Many of the young men have never had a positive interaction with law enforcement, so our Officers make weekly trips to engage and mentor the juveniles.

MPD maintains a positive and professional relationship with a handful of the youth when they are released.
