January 20, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) At 10:08 pm on Saturday, January 19th, Minneapolis Police responded to a ShotSpotter report of numerous shots fired in the alley on the 3600 block between Penn and Queen Avenue North. Calls into 911 also reported the sound of shots fired.
Officers arrived in the alley and located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The first officers arriving on the scene provided medical attention while additional responding officers secured the scene. Paramedics arrived on the scene and took over medical treatment. The victim was transported to North Memorial Health Hospital where he died a short time later.
Officers canvassed the area and spoke with several people who may have heard or seen something. The Minneapolis Crime Lab responded to the scene and collected evidence.
The Medical Examiner will provide the identity of the victim along with the nature and cause of death.
