Suspect Arrested in Connection with Double Homicide in Minneapolis

February 12, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) On February 11, 2019, detectives from the Minneapolis Police Department’s Weapons and Homicide Units, along with officers from the 2nd Precinct, arrested a suspect in regards to the double homicide that occurred Saturday, February 9th.

The name of the suspect is not being released for investigative purposes at this time under Minnesota State Statute 13.82. A charging decision is expected to be made by noon on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.


2 Dead After a Report of the Sound of Gun Shots

February 9, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) On Saturday evening at 10:30 PM, Minneapolis Police officers responded to a report of sound of gun shots in an apartment complex on the 300 block of 2nd Avenue SE.

Officers arrived and located two adult females in an apartment in the building who appear to have suffered gunshot wounds. These two females were deceased.  The suspect, or suspects, fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival.

Investigators from the Homicide Unit and patrol officers canvassed the area and spoke with several people who may have heard or seen something.

The Minneapolis Police Department Crime Lab processed the scene and have collected evidence for forensic analysis.

The identity of the victims, along with the nature and cause of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office in the days to come.
