Victim in Early Morning Shooting Dies at Hospital

May 16, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) Minneapolis Police have been notified that the victim of the shooting that occurred just prior to 4:30 am this morning has died at the Hennepin County Medical Center.

The identity of the victim, along with the nature and cause of death will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office in the coming days.

Detectives from the Homicide Unit have been on scene since shortly after the shooting and are handling this investigation.

Early Morning Shooting Leaves One in Critical Condition

May 16, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) Minneapolis Police have been notified that the victim of the shooting that occurred just prior to 4:30 am this morning has died at the Hennepin County Medical Center.

May 16, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) This morning just before 4:30 am, 911 callers reported a disturbance on the 2700 block of 16th Avenue South.  Callers reported several people in a dispute outside.  Additional callers reported the sound of shots fired followed by calls of one person being down.

Minneapolis Police and Minneapolis Fire arrived and rendered aid, to the adult male, until relieved by paramedics. The victim appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by paramedics. He is listed in critical condition.

Officers immediately spoke to several people who were in the area who may have heard or seen something regarding this shooting. A full canvass of the area is being conducted at this time.

The Minneapolis Crime Lab responded and is processing the scene, collecting evidence to aid in the investigation.

Further information on the victim is being withheld for investigative reasons.
