A Daily Dose of Great Police Work doesn’t always have to mean feats of heroism; rather it can be an instance when officers make a positive impact on someone’s life by a compassionate act.
June 1, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) – An MPD Officer and Recruit responded to a Robbery of Person call on N 5th St. Remarks in the call stated a witness picked up victim in the area of a downtown business after victim mouthed “help me” to witness. Victim was observed with a male/suspect who was wearing a distinct looking jacket. Witness was able to take a photo of suspect with her phone. Witness drove victim to a nearby gas station where she learned suspect had robbed victim of his cell phone and credit cards. When Officers arrived, it was determined that Victim met suspect at 1st Ave N. Suspect took victim’s credit cards and cellphone then walked victim to the downtown business to find an ATM. Victim stated that suspect had something cold pressed into victim’s ribs. Victim thought this might be a handgun, but did not see a gun. Suspect description was provided along with photo of suspect that was taken by witness. A short time later the Officers observed suspect at 5th St and Hennepin Ave S. Suspect was detained and found to be in possession of victim’s credit cards along with suspected narcotics. Suspect was placed under arrest and booked HCJ for PC Aggravated Robbery of Person and Narcotics.
