Officer Mike Kirchen given Minneapolis Police & Peace Officers Association Award

June 8, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Minneapolis Police Department Officer Michael Kirchen was awarded the Minnesota Police & Peace Officers Association Award at the Annual Convention in Alexandria, Minnesota.

This award is presented to any Minnesota Peace Officer that demonstrates outstanding service, exemplary job performance or heroism.

Officer Kirchen was nominated for his community outreach and being recognized around the country as a highly effective individual that links officers with the communities they serve. This is crucial in building trust and partnerships with our communities.

When Officer Kirchen reports for duty he makes a positive impact and builds bridges every day. Officer Kirchen focuses on kids and community members who have been victims of crime or who have witnessed traumatic incidents/events and reminds us that police and the community are a team. He collaborates with the community in the healing process by reaching out to them in traumatic events and building trust through Procedural Justice.
