One Dead in Early Morning Shooting

July 7, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) At 1:49 am on July 7th, Minneapolis Police received a report of the sound of shots fired in the area of Washington Avenue and North 1st Avenue.

A sergeant arrived in the area and was flagged down by an individual who directed him to an adult male down on the roadway. After finding that the victim had no pulse or respirations, the sergeant began CPR.  Additional officers and paramedics arrived almost immediately. The victim was transported to Hennepin Health Care by ambulance where he died a short time later.

Preliminary information is that may have been traffic related.

Investigators from the Minneapolis Police Department Homicide Unit have interviewed people at the scene and are following up on leads generated. No one is in custody at this time.

The Minneapolis Police Department Crime Lab responded and processed the scene, collecting evidence for further analysis.
