Police Launch Homicide Investigation After Early Morning Shooting

August 16, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) At 1:06 am Friday Morning, Minneapolis Emergency Communications Center received a ShotSpotter activation on the 3200 block of Lyndale Avenue North. As that call was coming in, a 911 call was received of a shooting in the same area.

Officers and paramedics arrived and located the victim outside. Paramedics provided emergency aid while officers took control and preserved the scene.  The victim appeared to be an adult male and was transported to North Memorial Medical Center where he died a short time later.

The Minneapolis Crime Lab responded and processed the scene, collecting evidence to aid in the investigation. Homicide detectives and officers canvassed the area and spoke with a number of people in the area.

The identity, along with the nature and cause of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

There is no one in custody at this time.
