75 Year Old Aggravated Assault Victim Dies
November 12, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) The Minneapolis Police Department was notified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office that the victim in this crime died today at 1:36 pm.
The identity of the victim along with the cause of death will be released by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
This marks the city’s 39th homicide of the year.
Homicide detectives are working with the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office to amend the charges against the suspect in custody.
Minneapolis Police Announce Arrest In Aggravated Assault
November 7, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) The Minneapolis Police Department has made an arrest in the Aggravated Assault of the 75-year-old man on the 2900 block of Chicago Avenue on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.
Officers from the Minneapolis Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, along with SWAT personnel arrested Leroy Davante Davis-Miles with a date of birth in 199 for Probable Cause Aggravated Assault. He was arrested in South Minneapolis and is listed at 23 years of age. He has been booked into the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center. His booking photo is included with this release.
This continues to be a very active investigation and we anticipate additional arrests.
November 7, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) On Wednesday, November 6th, at 2:39 pm, officers from the Metro Transit and Minneapolis Police Departments responded to the 2900 block of Chicago Avenue on a report of a serious assault.
Officers arrived and provided immediate aid to the victim while other officers spoke with people in the area. Information was gathered and the victim, a 75-year-old male, was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by ambulance with what is believed to be grave injuries.
Preliminary information is that there was a verbal exchange on an Metro Transit bus. When the victim got off the bus, the suspect, along with three others, got off the bus and followed the victim. Another altercation took place and the suspect, believed to be in his 20’s, struck the victim, causing him to fall and strike his head.
The case is being investigated by the Minneapolis Police Department with the assistance of the Metro Transit Police Department.
