November 21, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) – This afternoon our Mounted Unit held a ceremony to honor two special horses.
Sedona is retiring due to health problems after serving 5 years. Sedona was one of our most gentle horses and a favorite on the Unit.
We also had an End of Watch/Memorial Service for Police Horse Diego. Diego served on the MPD for over 9 years and was one of the Unit’s best horses. Last August, after completing a bar closing shift, Diego was found in the pasture with a fatal injury. It appeared that Diego had been kicked by another horse causing his leg to be broken. There was no alternative other than to euthanize him.
