December 1, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) On December 1, 2019 at 10:03 am, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to the report of the sound of shots fired on the 2700 block of Oakland Avenue South. Information received from other 911 callers was that it was a shooting.
Officers arrived and found two youth outside, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers coordinated with arriving squads and retrieved the two victims, getting them into squad cars. They were transported to a safe location where they were met by paramedics. Both victims died.
Officers heard additional gunfire coming from inside a residence and they set up a perimeter. Additional resources were immediately summonsed to the scene. SWAT personnel and negotiators arrived and numerous attempts to contact people inside the residence were made.
At approximately 2:00 pm, a robot was deployed into the residence and located the body of an adult female. Additional search of the residence yielded the body of an adult male. Both individuals are deceased.
Multiple homicide teams have been dispatched to the scene and will take over the investigation.
The Minneapolis Crime Lab staff will be responding to the scene to record and document evidence before collection and analysis.
The identities of the victims, along with the nature and cause of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Minneapolis Police are not looking for any additional suspects in this case.
