March 22, 2020 (MINNEAPOLIS) On Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 4:17 pm, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to a report of a shooting on the 5100 block of James Avenue North. While in route to the call officers were advised that multiple people had been shot and the suspect fled the area.
Officers arrived and found three adult males suffering from gunshot wounds; two had non-life-threatening injuries while one was in grave condition. All three were transported to North Memorial Medical Center by ambulances. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the male in grave condition died. The other two are listed in satisfactory and stable condition.
Homicide detectives arrived on the scene and, along with the information gathered by officers on scene, interviewed a number of people and gathered video. Through the investigation it is believed that an altercation occurred in the doorway of a residence when the shooting happened. The suspect fled on foot prior to officers arrival.
The Minneapolis Police Department Crime Lab personnel responded and processed the scene, collecting evidence.
The identity of the deceased, along with the nature and causes of death, will be released by the medical examiner in the days to come.
