Minneapolis Police Initiate Death Investigation After Report of Stabbing

May 28, 2020 (MINNEAPOLIS) At 9:05 pm on Wednesday night, Minneapolis Police responded to a 911 report of a stabbing in the area of Bloomington Avenue and Lake Street.

Officers arrived and found the body of an adult male that was lying on the sidewalk.  Officers checked and found that the man had trauma present and he was not breathing, nor did he have a heartbeat. Officers began life saving measures.

The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.  He was pronounced dead upon arrival of the hospital.  Examination of the decedent indicated that he was shot and not stabbed as originally thought.

The circumstances surrounding this death are currently being looked into and the Minneapolis Police Department has initiated a death investigation.  They have taken an adult male into custody in relation to this case.

The Medical Examiner’s Office arrived and took custody of the deceased.  They will release the identity along with the nature and cause of death.
