Car Fire Leads to Discovery of Deceased Male

May 31, 2020 (MINNEAPOLIS) On Sunday morning at 4:10 am, Minneapolis Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a vehicle fire on the 1300 block of 2nd Street South.

After the fire was extinguished by the fire department, officers located the body of an adult male a short distance from the burned car.  Officers checked the body and observed signs of obvious trauma.  The male was deceased.

The area was immediately cordoned off and investigators from the Minneapolis Police Department’s Homicide Unit were called to the scene along with the Crime Lab personnel.

The identity of the decedent, along with the nature and cause of death, will be provided by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office in the coming days.
