August 25, 2020 (MINNEAPOLIS) At 11:26 pm on Monday evening, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter activation on the 2300 block of James Avenue North. Upon arrival, officers didn’t locate any shooting victim.
Minutes later, officers were advised that a 17-year-old female, who had suffered gunshot wounds, was dropped off at the emergency department at North Memorial Health by a private vehicle. Further information was that she had just died.
Detectives from the Homicide Unit responded out to the scene and worked with officers in canvassing the area. Members of the Crime Lab responded and processed the scene and collected evidence.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will release the nature and cause of death, along with the identity of the decedent in the days to come.
