Man Dies After Being Dropped Off at Hospital

August 27, 2020 (MINNEAPOLIS) This morning at 3:51 am, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter activation on the 3500 block of Chicago Avenue South.

Officers arrived and were unable to locate any victim of a shooting.  As they searched the area, the received information from Hennepin Healthcare that an adult male, believed to be in his late 20’s, suffering from gunshot wounds had arrived via private transport to their emergency room.

Preliminary investigation indicates the victim’s injuries occurred in the area of the ShotSpotter activation.  Officers located a possible scene and the crime lab personnel responded to process the area.

The Minneapolis Police Department was notified that the victim died at the hospital.

The identity of the victim, along with the nature and cause of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office in the coming days.
