Motorcycle – Pedestrian Crash Results in the Death of One

August 31, 2020 (MINNEAPOLIS) On Monday, August 31, 2020 at 4:34 pm, Minneapolis Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash resulting in personal injury.  As officers were en route, they were advised that the crash involved a motorcycle and a pedestrian.  The crash was reported at Olson Memorial Highway and Bryant Avenue.

Officers arrived and located two adult males down on the ground.  The pedestrian suffered grave injuries and the motorcyclist had serious but non-life-threatening injuries.  Both were transported to Hennepin Healthcare by ambulances.

Preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian, a male believed to be in his 50’s, entered Olson Memorial Highway in a northerly direction on Bryant Avenue against the traffic control device.  The motorcyclist was east on Olson Memorial Highway and attempted to avoid the pedestrian.  Despite evasive maneuvers, the motorcyclist struck the pedestrian and they both went to the ground.

The Minneapolis traffic unit responded and processed the scene.  The Minneapolis Crime Lab personnel documented the scene with the Traffic Unit.

The Minneapolis Police Department was notified by the hospital that the pedestrian died shortly after arriving.  This is the 14th traffic related fatality in 2020.
