September 15, 2020 (MINNEAPOLIS) On Monday afternoon at 4:27 pm, Minneapolis Police responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the area of the 3800 block of Fremont Avenue North.
Officers arrived and located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the individuals did not have a pulse or respirations. Officers began CPR and wound management until relieved by paramedics. Other officers dealt with the other injured party and scene security.
A 17-year-old male victim was transported to North Memorial Health Hospital where he died a short time later. The other victim, an adult male in his late teens, was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life-threatening wounds.
Preliminary investigation yields that people were standing in front of a business when a person, or persons, approached on foot and shot at the group. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arrival.
Investigators arrived on the scene and assisted in canvassing the area. The Minneapolis Police Department Crime Lab responded and documented the scene and collected evidence.
The Medical Examiner will release the identity of the victim, along with the nature and cause of death in the coming days.
