October 7, 2020 (MINNEAPOLIS) – At 3:53 pm on Wednesday afternoon, Minneapolis Police responded to a ShotSpotter notification of shots fired in the area of Logan Avenue North and Lowry. En route to the scene, officers were advised of numerous 911 calls reporting a shooting.
Officers arrived and located two victims, both males, suffering from gunshot wounds. One was in grave condition and one had non-life-threatening injuries. Officers immediately provided lifesaving aid to the most serious victim. Other officers rendered aid to the other victim while additional officers arrived and secured the scene. One of the victims was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel and the other victim was transported to North Health Hospital by ambulance.
Preliminary information is that a dispute occurred between two groups of people and it escalated into a shooting. The suspect(s) fled prior to officer’s arrival. Ages of the victims is not readily available.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene to start an investigation. The Minneapolis Police Department Crime Lab came and processed the scene and collected evidence.
The Medical Examiner will release the identity, along with the nature and cause of death, in the coming days.
